Licensed cambio centers and commercial banks are accessible in all resort areas. The official currency exchange rates vary daily, so it’s advisable to shop around for the best rate before converting your cash. Most Jamaican ATM’s accept international bank cards with Visa, MasterCard, Cirrus and Plus logos. Banks also give credit card advances, change traveler’s checks among other financial services.

Commercial Banks

Jamaica has seven commercials banks, as categorized by the Bank of Jamaica as of February 28, 2010. These include, The Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica Ltd (BNS), First Caribbean, Citibank, First Global, RBTT Jamaica Ltd, Pan Caribbean and The National Commercial Bank. The Bank of Nova Scotia provides many personal solutions, including – Accounts & plans, Credit Cards, insurance products, loans, Internet Banking, investment products, mortgages and so on. It’s business service entails corporate and commercial banking, small business banking, cash management and international trade support. Such services has lead BNS to be the Jamaica’s leading financial institution. It has been in existence since 1889 and is ranked in the top two Jamaican banks! The Bank of Nova Scotia has been in Jamaica since 1889.
